Under the Clouds Of was inspired by the realities of dealing with the genetic mutation in our extended family. After learning that my cousin carries the BRCA2 gene along with his daughters while we have the BRCA1 mutation. The threat rears its’ ugly head even in spite of the knowledge we have gained. It carries with it a heavy burden as my generation is now the older one, the bridge between what was and what will be. The ends of this piece reflect the hope that, along with science, one day this mutation will fade away.
